  1. OPERATION ORDER TO: 1Pl, A COY, 2 PARA BN. FROM: SILBOT, LT, OC 1Pl, A COY, 2 PARA BN. SUBJECT: OPERATION HERA IX 102000ZNOV19. ++++++++++BEGINS+++++++++++ I. PRELIMS TIME: 0530L WEATHER: Clear to Cloudy. CURRENT POS: PB DRIFFIELD, PB DARWEN MAP DATA: Map Data Here TASK ORG; 0A: Lt Silbot 0B: Sgt Blanthorn 1/1 - IC: Cpl Ainsley, 2IC: A/Lcpl James 1/3 - IC: Cpl McPherson, 2IC: LCpl Verrick 4/1 - IC: Cpl Scarle, 2IC: LCpl Cullen II. SITUATION Our last operation begins in an attempt to remove and destroy the TALIBAN HQ located in the north of the region. We must first assault the town on RAVANAY then pushing north and continuing an all out assault on KARACHINAR eventually pushing through further north to the confirmed TALIBAN HQ in an attempt to capture any TALIBAN leaders and destroy the compound on our extraction. i. GROUND In General: Takhar is mostly a dry/arid area, mountainous in the central areas of the province. The area has some areas of farming land and has some larger more populated towns along with many villages on the outskirts with little population easy for the Taliban to extort and claim a foothold where the ANP hold less presence. The road network is basic but it improving with the newly elected government promising a public transport network and tarmac roads leading to every village in the area by 2022. In Detail: Northern areas of TAKHAR are mountainous which gives the company an advantage by the use of 4/1 to provide overwatch. RAVANAY is a town in the dead end of a valley. It is small in size which should allow a quick all out assault in order to push north. It is thought that there is not a sizeable TALIBAN force in the town of RAVANAY, this will be used as the CCP and supply point once the town is taken. ii. ENEMY FORCES Known & Suspected En. Positions: Pockets of TALIBAN in the towns being assaulted due to the TALIBAN thinking that the area is a safe haven. Strength: After more surveillance in the area by the US AIR FORCE it is clear the Taliban have potentially up to 5 sections worth of insurgents in the area. Morale: High due to recent successful attacks. Weaponry: AK and Soviet Era weaponry in use. Due to recent attacks on ANA & ANP a small amount of advanced weaponry has been gained. There is reports of Soviet Era static emplacements. Caliber up to 12.7mm and RPG/STRELA Missiles. IDF: 82mm Mortars. Vehicles: Unknown. Aircraft: None known. Air Threat: High Soviet STRELA missiles have been obtained in unknown quantities. JHC to Risk assess. Mine/IED Threat: HIGH - General AO, LOW- Areas of interest. iii. ENEMY INTENT To protect the confirmed TALIBAN HQ at all costs. iv. FRIENDLY FORCES Remainder of A Coy. JHC & CSMR elements based at FOB EXETER.. v. ROE CARD ALPHA '424'. III. PROBABLE MISSION To land A COY onto HLS GONDOR and assault the town of RAVANAY to establish a temporary PB in order to conduct resupply and rearm at that location. To continue the assault north onto further towns resulting in an all out assault onto the TALIBAN HQ capturing any TALIBAN leaders still located there and destroy the compound on extraction. IV. OWN MAIN EFFORT This operation will be conducted in four (4) phases; i. Phase 1 1/1 and 4/1 are to be collected from PB DRIFFIELD by 1 Flt and taken to PB DERWEN by 1x Chinook O GROUP is to be conducted at PB DERWEN on 1/1 and 4/1 arrival. ii. Phase 2 1x Chinook and 1x Apache are to transport A COY to HLS GONDOR for the company to conduct their assault. iii. Phase 3 Sections should assault onto the town of RAVANAY from PHASELINE MORDOR at the discretion of Coy Commander, this is to be conducted when 4/1 are in place on OP ARNOR and in a position to support the company on their assault onto the town. 1 FLIGHT should attempt to airlift 2x WOLFHOUNDS and 1x FOXHOUND and 1x RIDGEBACK to the town of RAVANAY once the assault has been completed so that 4/1 are able to be mobile and any casualties can be taken back to RAVANAY for CAS EVAC. iv. Phase 4 Once the assault on RAVANAY has been completed the area should be established with a HLS and resupply point, this temporary location will be held by US TROOPS that have now entered the AO. The A COY should then continue their assault further north onto the town of KARACHINAR to gain a foothold to continue the assault in the final operation. 1 FLIGHT should be tasked with CAS onto TARGET SHIRE in order to destroy the town in the entirety. To prevent any insurgents moving from that town and pushing EAST to assault the company. DENY the TALIBAN use of any weaponry or vehicles in that TARGET area. This is to be conducted on the say so from the Coy OC V. TIMINGS IC Briefing: 2020 LONDON TIME 102000ZNOV19 Chinook departure from DERWEN: 2030 LONDON TIME VI. SITUATION After deploying into central Takhar it is clear there is a strong insurgency forming in the surrounding villages to where we are based. After multiple contacts and IED's located and destroyed we are sure to have a tough two months ahead. We must ensure we are active in the area and conduct fierce and rapid combat missions in order to deflate and eradicate the enemy from the local populace. The ANP have given us a warm welcome and have spoken to some local elders in order to arrange a SHURA in the coming weeks to gather intelligence to be passed onto the US forces deploying late October who will assist us for the last 4 weeks before taking over combat operations from the UK at the end of November. The insurgency has reignited their efforts in the north and have conducted over 28 attacks in the last 3 weeks. The ANP has lost 21 officers while the ANA have lost 13 Soldiers. The local population is weary of us returning to the region as they anticipate a rise in attacks and fighting in the area due to our presence.
