A few pics I snapped during tonights training. A section on the Killhouse range Some daft Rupert going the wrong way down the range. New pants please! The sections go through Fast Roping practice And rappelling. Before getting down to some old fashioned breaching exercises. Stand by....Stand by..... Go Go Go! Breaching! Being on the receiving end. Before..... A few seconds later. Ril's aim is good. Thank the Gods! Suave and Debonaire Platoon Commander. A great nights training tonight lads. Glad to see lots of effort going in. It really does make a difference to what we can achieve. Well done.
  17. From: Millar, Maj, OC A Coy To: A Coy Subject: UNIT UPDATE JULY 2018 Priority: Routine DTG: 192300ZJUL18 ++++++++++++++++++BEGINS+++++++++++++++++ Gentlemen. Due to upcoming Wednesday night commitments I will, with immediate effect, hand over operational planning and leading of the company in the field to Silbot who is promoted to the rank of Captain. While I am staying on in overall command of the unit, this measure is necessary to avoid delays to operational start times. It is also an overdue measure for myself to get some time back for RL as I have, for the last 2 years, treated my stint as commander of both 1 Platoon and then A Company as a second job, devoting large amounts of time into providing the content, writing orders with associated J2 material and driving the unit on, something which has in the past, and continues to do so, provided me with a great deal of satisfaction. I will still be pushing the unit on as far as professionalism and training are concerned. SCBC and PSBC courses are all coming up in late summer, early autumn and I am/will be writing future campaigns for us to get our teeth into. With Silbot stepping up there is a cascade of vacancies throughout the ranks. Sgt Macdonald is promoted to Lt Macdonald and regains command of 1 Platoon, something he did excellently for a spell when I moved up to 2IC of A Company. Cpl Griffin is promoted to A/Sgt Griffin and will assume the role of Platoon Sgt and 2IC of 1 Platoon, climbing onto that steep learning curve for the most difficult of jobs. That leaves 1 Platoon with a number of NCO vacancies which becomes Lt Macdonald's first task as IC A/1. For all those selected to become leaders within the unit remember that it's not just about having the stripes, the job comes with in and out of game responsibilities, tasks which are essential for us to keep doing what we do. The NCO cadre within 16AA is the solid foundation on which everything else is built, without it we might as well be playing Squad. Please all give the new appointees all the support you can so we can continue to get the job done. Carry on. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Ends+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  24. Some of the images I've grabbed so far. CASEVAC bird coming in to collect casualties from HLS clearance drills at CAMP THISTLE. Oh dear! Fast roping practice Fire and Maneuver Practice in the open Fire and Maneuver Practice, in the jungle. Getting back into the jungle for real Bilbo looked out over Mirkwood. In all directions he could see only trees. These Little Birds have been invaluable getting casualties out in the tight spaces. The new recruit has an impressive, if oddly shaped, hose. 1 Platoon carry out the river crossing 2 Platoon's river crossing. Altogether much more stylish and symetrical. 9.8 for technical merit.
