I. PRELIMS

Time: 0300L

Current position: JAY COVE, AGIOS EFSTRATIOS

TASK ORG:

Windswept mediterranean island; dusty ground with patches of foliage. Many valleys dotted with sparse woodland, with few roads and settlements.

MAP DATA will follow in FRAGO.

III. SITUATION

The Greek goverment has lost contact with the island of AGIOS EFSTRATIOS. We have inserted under cover of night by RIB to JAY COVE, GR 024 011. We are to covertly establish the extent of resistance on the island and attempt to establish contact with any remaining friendly elements.

ENEMY FORCES

Strength: The HELLENIC ARMED FORCES had two companies stationed on the island. The total population of the island is approximately 300. J2 estimates that approximately three companies would be required to overthrow the entire island.

Morale: assessed as high.

Small arms: unknown.

Heavy weapons: unknown.

Vehicles: unknown.

Aircraft: unknown.

Air threat: contact has been lost with two anti-air emplacements on the island. They are now assumed hostile.

Mine threat: low.

FRIENDLY FORCES

B and C Coy remain on the Charles de Gaulle (CDG) as a QRF.

JHC are operating ISTARs and CAS from CDG, holding at GR 918 938.

Unknown numbers of HELLENIC ARMED FORCES still loyal to the Greek government.

IV. MISSION

We are to re-establish contact with the garrison at CAMP MAXWELL, GR 032 029. Our secondary objective is to investigate LZ CONNOR, GR 029 018, which J2 have assessed is a likely FOP.

V. EXECUTION

As we form up, JHC will perform ISTARs on LZ CONNOR, GR 029 018 and the surrounding areas.

We will advance NE up the re-entrant starting in GR 021 013, just north of our landing site.

We will then establish an OP at HILL 114, GR 027 017.

We will then advance NORTH to CAMP MAXWELL.

LOE is the 035 NORTHING.

VI. ROE

Card ALPHA. People live and work on this island. The intentions of the islanders and the garrison are uncertain. If you suspect hostile intent, you must clearly identify yourself, shouting "BRITISH ARMY, STOP, OR I FIRE", then you must fire warning shots, unless there is a clear and present danger to your own life or that of your allies.

Escalation to card BRAVO is possible as the operating environment becomes clear.
