OPERATION ORDER

TO: SILBOT, LT, OC, A COY 2 PARA BN

FROM: HICKS, R, LT COl

PRIORITY: IMMEDIATE

SUBJECT: Operation Sirius III

I. PRELIMS

Time: 1600L

Climate: temperate: Cold and windy at dusk and dawn with possible fog; warm and sunny during the day.

METAR: Overcast, Storm system over the island has almost cleared, Rain possible. Medium visibility.

Current position: FOB Scarlett, South-West of Molos

II. GROUND

Windswept Mediterranean island; Flat rolling terrain with slow changes in elevation. Modern infrastructure, towns, cities, and utilities.

 

III. SITUATION

The Aegean island of Altis is currently in turmoil with an unconfirmed number of Hellenic Forces seizing control of the southern half of the island, with the current Greek political and financial climate, they are unable to combat this situation, As such a British led Nato Task Force will take on the Operation.

 

ENEMY FORCES

Strength: The HELLENIC ARMED FORCES had a Mechanized Infantry Brigade stationed on the island. These forces have split after the attempted Coup d'état. J2 estimates that the enemy forces number approx. 2,500-4000. The total population of the island is approximately 16,000.

Morale: assessed as High within uniformed ranks, morale in volunteers unit’s assessed as Medium after heavy loses around Molos.

Small arms: a mixture of Eastern Bloc and NATO.

Heavy weapons: IDF, AT, and HMGs.

Vehicles: motorized, mechanized and armored units have been seen.

Aircraft: Rotary and fixed wing aircraft have been reported missing from the Hellenic forces stationed here.

Air threat: Advanced long and short range AA and Radar systems.

Mine threat: HIGH in Strategic areas.

 

FRIENDLY FORCES

Molos Airfield has now been converted into Joint Operating Base Sword

B Coy have landed to secure our southern flank with motorized units.

Royal Tank Regiment (RTR) has landed to secure out northern flank along with C Coy, they can be tasked to assist via TFE callsigns.

JHC are operating ISTARs and CAS from Molos Airfield along with pre-designated targets.

Unknown numbers of HELLENIC ARMED FORCES still loyal to the Greek government.

Unknown numbers of civilians who have taken up arms against the ENEMY FORCES.

Remaining Hellenic Forces stationed at the DMZ between the north and south of the island.

British Special Forces are behind enemy lines conducting various operations.  

 

IV. MISSION

Capture and hold the Town of Sofia and Highpoint 92 to the north-west in order to gain intel of surrounding structures and troop movements.

B coy will push to holding positions to our southeast around Catolia.

RTR and C coy push towards Nidasos to our northeast and remain concealed in observation positions to provide intel on the military base to our east.

J3 expects Sofia to be heavily defended as it is the only roadblock between us and Paros.

Enemy forces are using civilian warehouses to store arms and munitions, these will need to be searched, secured and disposed of when found.

V. EXECUTION

Execution at the discretion of company commanders.

7RHA have PRESIGHTS set for targets in the town of Sofia and surrounding areas. These will be called in at the discretion of company commanders.

The NO FLY ZONE is IN FORCE.

High chance of AA emplacements on Almyra Salt Flats, pilots are advised to exercise extreme caution.

British Special forces will continue their campaign of sabotage behind occupying forces lines along with providing use intel where possible.

 

VI. ROE  

Card ALPHA. People live and work in this AO and we are not here to disrupt their lives. I expect sighting reports to becoming in prior to an engagement unless there is a clear and immediate threat to life.

Ground units are reminded not to use religious sites are firing positions.

 

VII. CSS

i. Dress: CEFO, MTP, and PPE.

ii. Equipment: C-IED, AT, L107 flashbang grenades, and demolition charges to be carried, rest as per SOP.

iii. Weapons: As per SOP

iv. Ammo: As per SOP

v. Meds/CMT: extraction to Main Base Sword. Casualties to be patched up in field as far as possible.

 

IIX. COMMAND AND SIGNAL

i. Command: TBA

ii. Signals: 148/152 channels: 1 Plt net channel 1, Logistics net channel 4, Flight net channel 7.

iii. Challenge/response: TANGO WHISKY / INDIA TANGO

iv. Timings:

O-Group: 1945Z

H-Hour: 2000Z
