I. PRELIMS
TIME: 0400L 13TH JUNE 1982
WEATHER: Clear skies, foggy, chance of rain and snow

II.SITUATION
The conflict began on 2 April, when Argentina invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands, followed by the invasion of South Georgia the next day. On 5 April, the British government dispatched a naval task force to engage the Argentine Navy and Air Force before making an amphibious assault on the islands.
We are tasked with reclaiming the capital city of Port Stanley and its outlying hamlets.

i.GROUND
The Falkland Islands have a land area of 4,700 square miles (12,000 km2) and a coastline estimated at 800 miles (1,300 km).
The archipelago consists of two main islands, West Falkland and East Falkland, and about 776 smaller islands. The islands are predominantly mountainous and hilly, with the major exception being the depressed plains of Lafonia (a peninsula forming the southern part of East Falkland). The islands are located in the South Atlantic Ocean, on the Patagonian Shelf, about 300 miles (480 km) east of Patagonia in southern Argentina.

ii.ENEMY FORCES
Known & Suspected En. Positions: As of mid-April it is estimated that the Argentine forces number 10,000 troops.
Strength: 602 Commando Company under Major Aldo Rico. 4th Monte Caseros Infantry Regiment (RI 4) under Lieutenant Colonel Diego Alejandro. Remaining scattered units from the islands already taken areas.
Morale: High.
Weaponry: FAL 7.62, FN MAG, M20 “Super Bazooka” an assortment of WW2 bolt action rifles used in the Sniper role.
IDF: 82mm PODNOS, OTO Melara Mod 56, CITER L33 Guns
Vehicles: None
Aircraft: A4 Skyhawk, Super Étendard.
Mine/IED Threat: SEVERE

iii. ENEMY INTENT
To repel the British forces attempt to reclaim the Islands

III. MISSION
To reclaim the city of Port Stanley and its outlying hamlets.

IV. OWN MAIN EFFORT

This will be a 6 phase operation!


Phase 1

FST are to coordinate with Flight and 4-3 the bringing in of ammunition and medical stores from Gold Beach to the HQ building.

4-1 are to standby with 81mm support in the way of smoke cover forthe advance onto Objective Purple

1-1, 1-2, 1-3 are to move East toward Objective Purple and staying behind the curtain of smoke provided by 4-1 until they reach Objective Purple and clear through it. They are then to radio the code word CHATSWORTH.

4-3 are to hold until called for either ATO or Logistics duties at HQ

4-4 are to attach themselves where they or the Coy commander sees fit. However one medic must be retained at HQ.

Flight must retain at least one Helicopter Pilot at all times. At least one Fast Air must be in orbit above Port Stanley at all times to intercept enemy fighters.

Phase 2

1-1 and 1-3 are to clear through Objective Green. 1-1 to take the left hand side and 1-3 to take the right. Completion of this will be announced with the code word HADDEN and will hold until hearing the code word CAPESTHORNE.
1-2 will clear through Objective Red.Completion of this will be announced with the code word CAPESTHORNE

Phase 3

4-1 will move and take Objective Brown. They will then provide fire support from Objective Brown. Completion of this will be announced with the code word MORETON.

On Hearing CAPESTHORNE. 1-1 will break off to take Objective Pink. The main Objective on that site will be to destroy the Radar on Objective Grey. This cannot be bombed or mortared due to its proximity to houses and a playground. Once this is achieved they will radio the code work HARDEWICK and 1-1 will then clear Objective Pink and on completion radio CHARTWELL and hold at the LOE.

1-2 will move from Objective Red to clear through Objective Blue with 1-3. Up to the line of the LOE. Code word BLITHFIELD. 1-2 will then hold in place at the LOE


Phase 4

1-3 will clear through Objective Black up to the line of the LOE and hold radioing the code word CLOUGH.

VI. ORDERS GROUP

Location: Determined by the OC

VII. CSS
Dress: DPM uniforms.
Equipment: Will be resupplied to and held at HQ from Gold Beach
Weapons: L1A1 SLR, L7A2 GPMG, L2A3 Sterling, L42A1 Sniper Rifle, Rocket 66 mm HEAT L1A1, Blowpipe MANPADS,
MILAN ATGM.
Ammo: As per SOP. Ammo will be resupplied to and held at HQ from Gold Beach
Meds: CTM and CSMR. Reinsertion by Puma from Gold Beach to HQ.
POWs / Detainees: To be taken to HQ to then be taken to Gold Beach.

VIII. COMMAND AND SIGNAL
